You have probably walked right past Douceur at a NARS counter. Compared to all of the beautiful shiny colors in the NARS blush range, Douceur could easily be mistaken as a nobody. In the pan, Douceur is a dull, matte nude tan pink. On your face, Douceur is pure magic - a neutral, goes with anything complexion boosting blush. If you have never tried a nude blush, you are missing out. I bought mine at Sephora for $29.
When I first bought this, I didn't talk about it for a long time because I didn't know how to say the name. Douceur is pronounced "doo-sir" (roughly), is of French origin, and means sweetness. Compared to racy NARS blush names like Orgasm, Deep Throat, Sex Fantasy, and the like, Douceur is a welcome change of pace. Douceur can also mean a bribe (presumably in a "sweeten the deal" type of usage), so its not a completely innocent name, but it is refreshing to own a NARS blush I can tell my mom about.
Just like nude lipsticks, a nude neutral toned blush that plays to your skintone will make you look effortlessly polished. For fair cool toned skin especially, Douceur shines as a perfect compliment to any look. This shade pairs equally well with a bold look as a no-makeup makeup office look. When shopping for a nude blush, take a look at blush shades that contain some brown, tan, or bronze undertones.
NARS really knows what its doing with blush formulation, and Douceur is no exception. The texture is silky, smooth, and easy to blend. This shade has a good amount of pigmentation - not so much that you have to be careful applying it, but enough to not have to dip your brush into the pan more than once. The matte finish is very modern, looking soft and pretty without looking dull.
I can't recommend this shade and formula enough to everyone who asks me about picking a blush for fair skin that isn't "scary". I have easily flushed fair skin with quite a bit of natural redness in the cheeks, and I find that this helps my cheeks look sculpted and brightened at the same time. If you are just getting started in makeup and looking for a place to start with blush or a makeup junkie that can't decide which blush to match to a bold lip, a nude blush will be a much-loved addition to your collection.

Overall, nude blushes like Douceur are easy to overlook, but are a makeup collection must have. If all of my makeup disappeared, Douceur would be the first blush I repurchased once I recovered from shock.
This looks so gorg! It reminds me of Tarte Exposed in how they're both nudey blush/ bronze. Have you ever tried that one?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can see online, Exposed is definitely in the same color family, but I haven't ever tried it!
