Laura Mercier Custom Artist Portfolio review & pictures

I have been searching for a long time for a makeup and toiletries case for travel. I wanted a cosmetics travel bag that included flexible configuration, secure construction, and makeup brush storage. I chose the Laura Mercier Custom Artist Portfolio, which I bought at Macy's for $98. This item is limited edition, but Laura Mercier frequently comes out with new and updated versions so don't panic if you miss out on this version.

Details:
  • Dimensions: 11.5” x 9.5” x 3”
  • 4 removable cosmetic bags with a mesh front, opaque back, and zipper closure - one large, two medium, and one small
  • Porfolio case with stiff sides and zipper closure
  • Magnetized configuration - portfolio and cosmetic bags contain hidden magnets that allow easy configuration
  • Brush page with a pocket, can zip out of the portfolio
  • Snake style print, brown
Storage:
I wanted to show the Custom Artist Portfolio with makeup inside to give you an idea of size and scale. I chose common items that you may have in your collection to help you know if this product is right for you! I found each bag to be spacious and easy to use. (Each bag is nowhere near full to capacity - you can fit tons in here!)

Small Bag: This bag is ideal for pencils and long items. I have shown the small bag with a mascara, cream eyeshadow stick, and lash glue.
Medium Bag (2): This bag is a total workhorse. In one, I have shown the Naked Basics palette and an eyeshadow quad.
Large Bag: This bag is very spacious, which is ideal for thick products, like a round foundation bottle, skincare, or haircare.
Brush Page: The brush page has 7 small brush slots for eye and lip brushes and 2 large brush slots for face brushes. There is a generous flap that covers brush heads to ensure that the brushes are protected.
Pocket: The back of the brush page has a generous pocket, perfect for palettes or large items.

Here is the Laura Mercier Custom Artist Portfolio next to MacBook Pro for size and depth scale. While the Porfolio is large, it is ideal for someone who will back a lot of makeup and toiletries anyway and wants their items protected.

Pros:
  •  Lots of storage capacity
  • Flexible configuration
  • Stiff sides to make sure items are protected
  • Nice feeling construction
Cons:
  • Brush page only has capacity for 2 face brushes
  • Relatively high price
This makeup travel case is pretty new to me, so I can't speak to its durability over a long period of time. Overall, I think this is a well designed piece that make sense for frequent travelers and those who always pack one more thing just in case. If this works in your budget, I can see this being a much loved accessory for makeup lovers.
