Paula's Choice Barely There Sheer Matte Tint Level 1 fair/light (new packaging)

Paula's Choice Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 30 - new black packaging

I recently purchased the Paula's Choice Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 30 in Level 1 (fair/light) while looking for tinted sunscreens suitable for sensitive fair skin. In my experience, many tinted sunscreens are sold as a 'universal' shade that is much too dark for fair skin. Paula's Choice recently changed the packaging for this product, mine is in a black squeeze tube with a transparent window on the front. The Barely There Sheer Matte Tint retails for $20 for a 1 ounce tube.

Claims

Paula's Choice advertises the  Barely There Sheer Matte Tint as "The best foundation you never see. This light and silky tint evens out your complexion with a hint of color while keeping out the sun’s rays." The marketing claims on this product are pretty accurate - the tint is lightweight, blends well, has a sheer tint, and sun protecting ingredients. The one piece that is not accurate is calling this a matte product. The finish is a natural satin and is not matte by any stretch of the imagination.

Swatches

Swatches over bare, unprimed skin. Both swatches have the same amount of product, the left is unblended and the right is more blended. Level 1 fair/light is slightly deeper, slightly more peachy, and much much more sheer than the It Cosmetics CC Cream in Fair. Compared to L'Oreal True Match N1 or Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk 2, Level 1 fair/light is deeper, more yellow, and substantially more sheer.

Overall, I have been enjoying this product. I have very sensitive skin with intermittent eczema and haven't experienced any irritation, burning, or breakouts. This tinted sunscreen wears well under foundation or powder or by itself. The shade is a little too yellow and too deep for my skin, but it is so sheer that it blends in seamlessly. I don't get any real coverage with it, but the yellow tones do help a little bit with evening out my facial redness.

If you are in the market for a tinted sunscreen, this one is worth a shot!

If you would like to purchase this product from Paula's Choice, here is my referral link (I get $10, you get $10), or here is a direct non referral link to the website. I bought this product on my own, with my own money, and Paula's Choice has no idea who I am.
