Japanese brush brand Chikuhodo has recently released information about their limited edition 2015 holidays brush sets. This year they have two sets available - the Noel Collection Lumiere and the Noel Collection Rose. Chikuhodo makes limited quantities of their LE holiday sets, so if you are interested I recommend pre-ordering quickly. These sets are up on the CD Japan site and the Japanese Chikuhodo site, but I haven't seen them on Visage or Beautylish.
Chikuhodo Noel Collection Lumiere
Chikuhodo Noel Lumiere contains 7 brushes and a case and sells for 34600 yen (~$288USD). There is a powder brush (squirrel), a tapered cheek brush (squirrel), a large base shadow eyeshadow brush (squirrel), a pencil eyeshadow brush (squirrel weasel blend), an eyebrow brush (raccoon), a small detail brush (weasel), and a lip brush (weasel). The handle and ferrule are both champagne, which is a beautiful choice for a holiday brush collection. The price seems to be reasonably on par with other large Chikuhodo sets with squirrel brushes (for example CD Japan has the 6 piece Z series set for ~$296), but is more expensive and larger than last year's Noel Neige.
Chikuhodo Noel Collection Rose
Chikuhodo Noel Rose is closer to last year's Noel Neige in size and price - this one is 13700 yen (~114). Noel Rose has four brushes and a case - an angled powder brush (goat), a round cheek brush (goat), a medium eyeshadow brush (squirrel weasel blend) and a lip brush (weasel). The lip brushes appear to be identical and the eyeshadow brushes are similar, but the Rose eyeshadow brush is 4mm longer than the Lumiere. The Rose handles are slightly flared (reminds me of Real Techniques, which is odd for Chikuhodo) and are an ombre pink. I prefer champagne shade, but I'm sure there are plenty of pink lovers to appreciate this color choice.
I prefer the color of the Lumiere set but I am more interested in the powder brush shape in the Rose set. I wish Chikuhodo would stop putting lip brushes in sets and update their brush pouches, but these look like overall solid offerings.
Bottom line, order soon if you are interested! I haven't been disappointed yet by Chikuhodo and I trust that this year's brush sets will be of the quality we all expect. Let me know in the comments if you will be getting either of these sets!
